On Life!

On life
Dec 28th  9:00 pm

Life played on the flutes of Hamlin,
Death followed merrily on...
The ugly duckling traversed ,
To fly the flight of swans!

The beggar journeyed in groups,
The King rode alone...
One relieved of all shackles,
One shackled to the throne!

Beauty walked, bit daunted,
By rain and wind and sun...
While having lost all, plainness,
The veil of darkness won!

Riches, heaving its weight...
Moved just a little slow,
Poverty wailing raced on...
With time's tidal flow!

Genius paved its own way,
It lit the blazing trail...
Host of mediocrity rushed on,
As fools where angels fail!

The worker worked in earnest,
Making dust piles all in a row...
The idler wondered idly...
Why the dust didn't lessen or grow!

The gardener watched his blossoms,
Freely the thorns did thrive!
Of weeds and grass, can one tell
Who was happier alive?

The poet dreamed with mere words,
The colours barely there...
The mason built with bare hands,
Both castles in the air!

The teacher, rabbi, and guide..
Took many a path to teach,
That the path to learning
Must be unique for each!

The scholar in his pursuit,
The midnight lamp did burn...
He found that fools with wise alike,
All ended in the urn!

The old and young chortled,
Youth challenged, midlife smirked...
And nobody seemed to remember
Where the tale had arced!

The "taking love"grabbed blindly,
The "giving love" did blind...
One took the chains of freedom,
The other to freedom did bind!

The hurting grew with each hurt
Striking to hurt the more...
The avenged and the avenger,
Both left a little sore....

Desire with its agenda,
Did madness infuse and brew...
Till renouncing all the wise one,
The more desirable, he grew!

The mother in her love child,
Her own reflection adored...
The creator creations' shadow...
And so humanity soared!

Moving with the high tide
Receding with the low
Life it's own first jewel
It's last Herculean blow!
